Tell us about yourself!

Tyson: I am a qualified financial planner with over 10 years of experience in the industry and have been very fortunate to be able to provide quality financial advice to a diverse range of clientele over that time. I commenced my career with a role in accounting and then progressed to financial planning and home loan lending to broaden my experience and knowledge over the years. I have two Masters, one in Financial Planning and one in Applied Finance. I also have an Advance Diploma of Accounting and a Diploma of Mortgage Broking and Finance.

I was raised in Wollongong but wisely made the move to Canberra in 2006 for lifestyle and work opportunities. I am kept busy with family life – I am a dad to three children (two girls and a boy) who are very active. During any spare time I have, I take the opportunity to do Tae Kwon Do which I have trained in since 2007.

What areas of financial planning are you passionate about?

Tyson: I am most passionate about ethical investment advice, superannuation & retirement, FIRE strategies, budget & debt advice, and divorce & estate planning.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Tyson: I enjoy working with clients, hearing their stories and dreams, and working with them to fulfil their goals (and we say awww!)

If you weren’t in financial planning, what would you be doing?

Tyson: I would still work in the finance or customer service field as I love the industry and I enjoy working with people.

Do you have any kids, pets, imaginary friends?

Tyson: I have three children, three chickens and about 4,000 bees (wow, we are bee-witched!)

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Tyson: Home DIY projects, Tae Kwon Do and puzzle-based games

Do you have a hidden talent/secret skill/party trick?

Tyson: I can pull apart two pieces of flat lego without using my teeth or tool!
